Admissions: Coterminal Applicants
Coterminal applicants:
- The application deadline for Autumn 2015-2016 entry into the M.S. program has passed.
- The application deadline for Autumn 2016-2017 entry into the M.S. program is December 1, 2015 at 11:59pm Pacific Standard Time.
The M.S. in CHPR coterminal application has two parts:
- Part 1: The paper Coterminal Application Form
- Part 2: The online M.S. in CHPR supplemental application
Qualifying for Coterminal Status:
- Applicants must be current Stanford undergraduate students.
- All applicants must have earned 120 units toward graduation (UTG) as shown on the undergraduate unofficial transcript. This includes allowable Advanced Placement (AP) and transfer credit.
- Applicants must have a major(s) declared.
- Applicants must have completed six non-summer quarters at Stanford (or two non-summer quarters at Stanford for transfer students)
- Applicants must submit their application and, if admitted, respond to the offer of admission no later than the quarter prior to the expected completion of their undergraduate degree. This is typically the Winter quarter prior to Spring quarter graduation.
- Applications must be submitted by the deadline for each quarter.
Required Application Materials:
- Completed Coterminal Application Form (Part 1)
- Completed M.S. in CHPR Supplemental Application Form (Part 2)
- Statement of Purpose (1-2 pages, 1 inch margins, 12 point font, single spaced)
- The Statement of Purpose should describe succinctly your reasons for applying to the proposed program at Stanford, your preparation for this field of study, research interests, future career plans, and other aspects of your background and interests which may aid the admissions committee in evaluating your aptitude and motivation for graduate study. The Statement of Purpose is uploaded in Part 2 of the application.
- The Statement of Purpose should describe succinctly your reasons for applying to the proposed program at Stanford, your preparation for this field of study, research interests, future career plans, and other aspects of your background and interests which may aid the admissions committee in evaluating your aptitude and motivation for graduate study. The Statement of Purpose is uploaded in Part 2 of the application.
- Two Letters of Recommendations from Stanford Professors
- Resume or Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- The resume/CV is uploaded in Part 2 of the application.
- 1 copy of your Stanford transcript (unofficial transcripts are acceptable)
- $125 Application fee (This fee will be assessed by the Registrar’s Office to those accepted and matriculated into the program)
- GRE scores not required

- Application for Admission to Coterminal Master’s Program
- Preliminary Program Proposal
- Complete the M.S. in CHPR Supplemental Application Form here.
- Ensure you’ve completed all the “Required Application Materials” described above.
- You must submit your application materials by the application deadline via one of two methods:
