Loss and Damage
A workstream under the Convention to consider approaches to address loss and damage associated with climate change impacts in developing countries that are particularly vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change.
Nairobi Work Programme
Work programme established to assist all Parties, in particular developing countries, including the least developed countries and small island developing States to enhance knowledge about adaptation. The NWP is implemented by Parties, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, the private sector, communities and other stakeholders.
National Adaptation Plans
Process established under the Cancun Adaptation Framework (CAF) to enable least developed country Parties (LDCs) to formulate and implement national adaptation plans as a means of identifying medium- and long-term adaptation needs and developing and implementing strategies and programmes to address those needs.
National Adaptation Programmes of Action
Process established to provide the least developed country Parties (LDCs) the opportunity to identify priority activities that respond to their urgent and immediate needs to adapt to climate change – those for which further delay would increase vulnerability and/or costs at a later stage.
Technical Examination Process on Adaptation (TEP-A)
Process established as part of the decision adopting the Paris Agreement to identify concrete opportunities for strengthening resilience, reducing vulnerabilities, and increasing the understanding and implementation of adaptation actions in the period 2016-2020.
Joint AC and LEG mandates
Workstream undertaken jointly by the Adaptation Committee (AC) and the Least Developed Countries Expert Group (LEG) to implement the new mandates provided to them by the Conference of the Parties (COP) at its twenty-first session.
