The Stanford Latino Entrepreneurship Initiative (SLEI) is a Stanford University research initiative housed within the Graduate School of Business. SLEI, in collaboration with the Latino Business Action Network (LBAN), has created a comprehensive database of Latino-owned businesses in order to stimulate more informed policymaking, business partnerships, and knowledge and skill development.
Stanford Latino Entrepreneurship Initiative: Research
- The database includes 1 million of the more than 4 million Latino-owned companies in the United States, with more to be added annually.
- Companies will be surveyed each year to create the longitudinal data needed for more rigorous analysis.
- The goal is to reach as close to 100% of U.S. Latino-owned companies as possible. This will be, by far, the largest and most comprehensive data set of its kind.
Latino Business Action Network
The Latino Business Action Network (LBAN) is a nonprofit entrepreneurship organization based in Palo Alto, California. Their vision is to strengthen the United States by improving the lives of Latinos through entrepreneurship education and a support network. They accomplish this by empowering Latino communities to grow substantial firms that create jobs, develop leaders, and spawn a new generation of Latino companies. LBAN’s goal is to double the number of large Latino-owned businesses by 2020.
Education
Stanford Latino Entrepreneur Leaders Program is a nationally available six-week online education course for business leaders interested in building highly scalable companies. The program provides them with the knowledge, skills, mentors, and access to capital they need to become successful. The custom online course is based on a course developed by Stanford professors Huggy Rao and Bob Sutton, internationally recognized experts in scaling businesses.
Support Network
The Entrepreneur Support Organizations Network (ESON) is a nationwide database and support network of small business and entrepreneur support organizations. Its purpose is to harness existing resources and promote joint efforts to more effectively impact the success of U.S. Latino entrepreneurs.
