BioMASS 1st Year Camping Trip - September 23rd-25th
This is a wonderful chance to get to know all the other incoming 1st years and form friendships for years to come. This is an extremely popular trip and many years about 2/3 of the incoming students attend! For more information see the section below! This year we'll be going to Mt. Diablo State Park.

Social Hour
BioMASS hosts a monthly social hour, either in the Atrium in the basement of Fairchild or one of the nearby lawns, depending on the weather. Come join us for refreshments and to meet your fellow biosciences grad students!
General Meetings
BioMASS holds a meeting each month to conduct business and plan events. There's usually free lunch, too!
SBSA First Year Camping Trip
Hello Incoming Biosciences PhD Students!
Each year, SBSA organizes a camping trip the weekend before classes start for incoming PhD students to get away from campus and get to know each other and some current students. The School of Medicine and the Medical Center Alumni Association are partially sponsoring our trip this year from Friday, September 23 through Sunday, September 25 at Mt Diablo State Park. The camping is very simple car camping and we can provide all the necessary supplies (if you prefer to bring your own camping supplies, you may). We will even work out carpooling to make sure that everyone who is interested will be able to come.
In order to register for this wonderful event, you will need to go to the following website http://www.stanford.edu/group/biomass/campingtrip/sbsa_camping.html and fill out the web form BEFORE Tuesday, August 16th. We are asking everyone to send in a $20 check to reserve a spot on the trip and to help pay for food/equipment for the weekend (the address and information for submitting the check will be emailed to you after registering, and the check must be received by Monday, September 14). The size of the campsite limits the number of people that we can take, and so we recommend that you sign up/send in your deposit early in order to ensure that you get a spot. This weekend is really a great chance to get to know people outside of your program, and a number of students say that they met their core group of friends during this orientation event.
