Mary Barra, MBA '90
Mary Barra, MBA '90, of Detroit, Michigan, is the chief executive officer of General Motors Company, a post she has held since January 2014. Mary is the first female CEO to lead a major global automaker, and she is also a member of the GM Board of Directors. GM posted record sales of more than 9.9 vehicles globally in 2014
and is the number one automaker in the United States. Under Mary's leadership, GM has renewed a company-wide focus on putting the customer at the center of everything, with the related goal of being industry leaders in product safety, quality, advanced technology and business results. Prior to becoming CEO, Mary was executive vice president for GM's Global Product Development, Purchasing & Supply Chain function, which was responsible for award-winning vehicles such as the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and the Chevy Silverado. Since starting her GM career in 1980, Mary has served in numerous leadership positions, ranging from plant manager to human resources to manufacturing engineering. At Stanford, Mary is a member of the Graduate School of Business (GSB) Advisory Council and served as GM's key executive to the university from 2009-13. Additionally, she has helped strengthen the partnership between GM and the GSB. Mary is also a member of the General Dynamics Board of Directors, where she chairs the Finance and Benefit Plans Committee. Term ends September 2020.

Dipanjan "DJ" Deb, MBA '96
Dipanjan "DJ" Deb, MBA '96, of San Francisco, California, is a co-founder and the CEO of Francisco Partners (FP), a leading global private equity firm focused exclusively on investments in the technology sector. Since its launch over 15 years ago, FP has raised approximately $10 billion in capital and invested in more than 150 technology companies,
making it one of the most active investors in the technology industry. The firm invests in transaction values from $50 million to over $2 billion with a focus on identifying inflection points. Prior to founding FP in 1999, DJ was a principal with Texas Pacific Group, director of semiconductor banking at Robertson, Stephens & Company and a management consultant at McKinsey & Company. He currently serves on the boards of Ichor Systems and Plex Systems and was previously on the board of AMI Semiconductor (AMIS), Barracuda Networks (CUDA), CBA Group, Cross Match Technologies, Corsair, Legerity, MagnaChip, Metrologic, NPTest/Credence (CMOS), Numonyx, SMART Modular Technologies (SMOD), Ultra Clean Technology (UCTT), Conexant (CNXT), Globespan (GSPN) and ON Semiconductor (ONNN). DJ received his MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business (GSB) in 1996 and a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1991 where he was a Regents Scholar.DJ was formerly chair of the Stanford GSB Management Board and is currently on the GSB Advisory Council. DJ also serves on the board of the UCSF Foundation and the Berkeley Engineering Advisory Board. Term ends September 2020.

Bradley A. Geier, BA '79
Brad Geier, BA '79, of Rancho Santa Fe, California, is co-founder and co-managing partner at of Merlone Geier Partners, a private real estate investment company focused on the acquisition, development and redevelopment of retail and retail-driven mixed-use properties on the West Coast. Previously Brad held positions at Taubman Company
and Trammell Crow Company. Brad earned a BA in History from Stanford and an MBA from Harvard. His broad range of contributions to Stanford include being a member of the Bing Overseas Studies Program Advisory Council , co-chair of the Parents' Advisory Board, 35th reunion campaign co-chair, and San Diego area outreach volunteer. Brad received the Stanford Associates Governors' Award in 2013. An active community volunteer, he is a lifetime trustee and past president of the Bishop's School Board of Trustees, member of the Policy Advisory Board Executive Committee of the University of San Diego Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate, and board member of Coaching Corps. Term ends September 2020.

Christy MacLear, BA '88
Christy MacLear, BA '88, of New Canaan, Connecticut, is the inaugural executive director of the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation in New York City. This artist-endowed foundation manages the artwork and legacy of its namesake, provides grants within the areas of climate change, artistic activism and art in education,
as well as administers a residency program for artists on Captiva Island, Florida. Prior to joining the foundation in 2010, Christy was the executive director of the Philip Johnson Glass House, a site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Here she developed the strategy to open the site to the public and create the National Trust's Center for Modern Preservation. Additional leadership roles include managing the creation of a lakefront park in Chicago and consulting with the leadership of the Cleveland Clinic. She was also an early team member of the Walt Disney Development Corporation's new town, Celebration. Christy has been a Stanford volunteer for the Office of Undergraduate Admission in both Chicago and New York. She is a member of the Stanford Arts Advisory Council and the Stanford New York Arts Council where she provided leadership in the creation of an arts internship program for undergraduates in New York City. Christy recently assisted the Stanford in New York program by providing connections to leading arts organizations. She is a member of the board of directors of the New York Municipal Arts Society; a member of the National Advisory Council for Cranbrook Design School and Museum, Detroit; and a member of the National Advisory Council for the Headlands Center for the Arts, San Francisco. She graduated with a BA in Urban Design from Stanford and was a member of the women's golf team. Christy also holds an MBA in Real Estate Finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Term ends September 2020.

Fred Alvarez, '72, JD '75
Fred Alvarez, '72, JD '75, of Atherton, California, is a partner at Jones Day, where he leads the firm's Silicon Valley labor and employment law practice. He is considered a top expert in labor and employment law. Fred's career also includes distinguished government service in two leadership positions as Assistant Secretary of Labor for the U.S. Department of Labor
from 1987 to 1989 and Commissioner of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission from 1984 to 1987. He has held numerous legal and civic leadership positions including presidency of the Bar Association of San Francisco and chairmanship of the American Bar Association's Commission on Racial and Ethnic Diversity in the Profession. Fred served on the Board of Directors of the Stanford Alumni Association and on the Law School Board of Visitors and chaired that board from 2009 to 2012. Fred joined the Stanford University Board of Trustees in March 2013.

Gail Block Harris, '74, JD '77
Gail Block Harris, '74, JD '77, of New York, New York, is the lead director of Evercore Partners, an independent investment banking advisory firm, and is president emeritus and a current member of the board of New York Cares, the largest non-profit for volunteering in New York City. She also serves on the boards of Cigna Life Insurance Company
of New York and several private companies. Gail, now retired from Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, began her legal career there in 1977 and became a partner in the Corporate Department in 1984. She is an adjunct professor of law at Ohio State University, Moritz College of Law, participating in its Distinguished Practitioners in Residence Program. Gail is a member of the Stanford University Board of Trustees and also serves on the Dean's Advisory Council of the Law School. She is a former chair of the Law Fund where she was credited for significantly raising donor participation numbers. She was awarded the Stanford Associates Governor's Award in 2004. Term ends March 2018.

Bernard Liautaud, MS '85
Bernard Liautaud, MS '85, of London, England, is general partner at Balderton Capital in London, a leading venture capital firm in Europe. In 1990, he co-founded Business Objects, which became the global leader in business intelligence solutions. Serving as chairman and CEO for 15 years, he took Business Objects public in 1994,
and led the company to an acquisition by SAP in 2008. Bernard currently sits on the supervisory board of SAP. In 2002, Time magazine Europe listed him in its "Digital Top 25." His career achievements were recognized with the Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur in 2007, one of the highest honors awarded in France. The Liautauds have been engaged with international outreach efforts for Stanford and have supported a range of programs, including bioengineering and medical research. Bernard received his MS from the École Centrale de Paris. Term ends March 2018.

Lloyd Metz, '90
Lloyd Metz, '90, of Brooklyn, New York, is a managing director of ICV Partners, a leveraged buyout firm based in New York City. He has been a director on five portfolio company boards and is currently lead director of two. Prior to joining ICV Partners in 2002, Lloyd was an investment professional at the private equity firm Warburg Pincus
and was an investment banker at Morgan Stanley. Lloyd is a trustee and member of the executive committee of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and treasurer and board member of the National Association of Investment Companies. Lloyd served on the Stanford Associates Board of Governors. He received the Stanford Associates Award of Merit in 2006 for his efforts to establish and endow the Okokon B. Okon III Fellowship in the School of Engineering and again in 2013 for participating in the leadership team of the first African-American Alumni Summit. He has volunteered for Leading Matters in New York and with the Office of Undergraduate Admission. He earned his MBA from the Harvard Business School. Term ends March 2018.
