Fees for Visiting Student Researchers

Monthly Visiting Researcher Fee:

Visiting Student Researcher's monthly fee is $991 for the 2015-16 academic year. This fee is posted to the bill on or shortly after the 15th of the month (for the current month). This fee is not pro-rated.

Campus Health Service Fee:

The Campus Health Service fee is a mandatory fee that is assessed quarterly.

Health Insurance Fee:

All Visiting Student Researchers are required to carry either individual health insurance or Stanford's Cardinal Care.

• Visiting Student Researchers who are invited to begin their stay late in any quarter (i.e., more than 60 percent of the quarter has passed) must be advised that Cardinal Care insurance is not available until the start of the next quarter. In other words, someone who begins an appointment on December 1, 2015, is not billed for Autumn Quarter Cardinal Care. The visitor must go to Vaden for assistance with identifying short term coverage options until he or she is eligible to purchase Cardinal Care. This information must be included in your letter of invitation. The 60 percent of the quarter date is identical to the Term Withdraw deadline noted in the academic calendar.

• Cardinal Care health insurance is automatically posted to the Visiting Student Researcher bill if their appointment begins prior to the Term Withdrawal deadline described above. Refer to the academic calendar to determine the Term Withdrawal deadline for the quarter.

  • Visitors who have their own health insurance must go to Vaden to waive Cardinal Care.
