The National Academy of Sciences (NAS) initiative provides scientific, technological, medical, and engineering related advice and expertise and complies with the Secretary’s direction to consolidate. This is a Cost Reimbursement – no fee Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract awarded to NAS.

• Standardizes procurement processes, reduces procurement lead times and allows a more efficient allocation of resources;
• Saves tens of thousands of dollars a year in administrative costs and allows the Heads of Contracting Activities throughout DHS to better support mission needs; and
• Eliminates the previous process of awarding a new contract each time a new requirement was identified by allowing task orders off of the central vehicle.
