*Institutional representative: not applicable.  You do not have to prepare a PDRF form or work with your institutional representative (RPM or OSR). You can submit your applications directly to Jill Mueller, per the guidelines at the end of this message.

 

Eligibility:

Proposals for 18 month pilot project awards will be accepted from all Stanford faculty members (*including CE faculty) who are encouraged to work with fellows, post-docs, students and staff. 

 

Amount of funding: $10,000-$50,000 for 18 months

 

Purpose:

The CIGH Seed Grant program supports the development of innovative solutions to global health challenges. In order to foster a collaborative community of researchers, educators and students, it provides seed funding of $10,000 to $50,000 to enable multidisciplinary teams (different disciplines, departments or schools) to initiate novel research projects and/or to use new approaches to design or implement products, services, policies or programs to address health issues faced by low-resource populations. The program’s goals are to foster new relationships and create new areas of self-sustaining research.

Funders include the Stanford University Office of the President, the Dean of the School of Medicine, and the Woods Institute for the Environment.

 

Priority Areas:

Preference will be given to projects that have one or more of the following characteristics:

  • High-risk, transformative projects that have the potential to lead to substantial improvement in global health
  • Projects that address key issues at the intersection of the environment and health
  • Projects that represent new interdisciplinary collaborations among, faculty, fellows, postdocs, students or staff who have not previously worked together.
