Biosciences Grant Writing Coaches Program

The goals of the Stanford Biosciences Grant Writing Academy are to:
• Enhance the development of productive, independent research scientists
• Support postdocs and graduate students in creating successful proposals
• Provide coaching, editing, and review for multiple grant mechanisms

For more information please go to the Stanford Biosciences Grant Writing Academy’s website: http://biosciences.stanford.edu/current/grants-fellowships/

The role of the Academy’s Grant Writing Coaches is critical and will facilitate 2-hour weekly peer-review meetings, faculty-review workshops (2 hours each) and provide oral / written constructive comments to strengthen grant applications. This is a 6-8 hour per week time commitment between the weeks of August 25 and December 5 (no meetings November 24-28). You will be paid an hourly rate for your coaching time.

In addition, the Academy’s Grant Writing Coaches will complete the required Hume Grant Coach Training classes (July 10, 17, and 24, 11 am -1 pm; lunch is provided) and an all day Grant Central seminar (July 23, 8 am to 5 pm). All training sessions are unpaid. By completing this application, you are confirming that you are able to attend the required Hume Grant Coach Training and Grant Central Seminar.

NOTE: If your visa includes a DS2019, it must specifically state in the research program description that your current postdoc appointment includes teaching. If it does not, you cannot participate in this program.
