Funding

Options for Funding

  1. The best and first option to try is to ask your school leader or department chair if there are professional development funds allocated for teachers at the school, district, or county level. (Note: If you are a teacher in California, ask specifically about LCAP funding set aside for professional development.)
  2. If your school does not have any funding earmarked for your professional development, we recommend trying DonorsChooseSeveral participants funded PD this way last year. Find general steps for how to do this below.
  3. Finally, there are limited local, national, and international opportunities to secure funding through foundations or businesses who have an interest in your school network or content area. The best way to discover these opportunities is by googling or reaching out to these organizations with a professional letter. If we can provide any information or Stanford letterhead templates to assist your acquiring of funds, please do not hesitate to email us!

Requesting Funds from DonorsChoose*

  1. Register at DonorsChoose.org - this includes confirming your eligibility, signing their agreement, choosing your school, and watching a tutorial video.
  2. Submit a project for Professional Development - this project submission for PD is different from a project submission for classroom materials, etc. In the past, it has required a letter from Stanford on our letterhead that verifies the cost of the PD and your registration in the course. We are happy to provide this letter at the appropriate time. Please email kbalint@stanford.edu with the subject line: "DonorsChoose Price Quote".
