Malone Schools Online Network

Stanford OHS students join peers from across the country in taking rigorous courses offered through this innovative consortium.

A Family of Independent Schools

Stanford OHS, the standard-bearer in seminar-style online learning, plays a lead role in the Malone Schools Online Network. A consortium of independent schools supported by the Malone Family Foundation, MSON provides a variety of courses to expand each member school’s existing curriculum.

How MSON Blends With Stanford OHS

  • Like Stanford OHS classes, MSON classes meet as interactive, real-time seminars for two hours each week and require students to demonstrate independence and high-level motivation.
  • MSON courses count toward Stanford OHS residency and academic requirements.
  • MSON courses appear on all Stanford OHS transcripts.
  • Stanford OHS students can access MSON classes through the normal course enrollment process.

Among the MSON offerings in academic year 2015–2016 are Ancient Greek; Arabic; The American Food System; Contemporary Topics in Music History; Medical Bioethics; Advanced Topics in Chemistry; CSI: MSON; Fundamentals of Nuclear Science and Engineering, and Introduction to Organic Chemistry.
