An Invitation to Teach an Introductory Seminar
Faculty from all seven schools of the University are eligible to teach an Introductory Seminar. We are especially interested in expanding the number and variety of seminars for freshmen so as to enroll as many first-year students as possible. Freshman Seminars are taught by Academic Council faculty. In some cases, supplemental compensation is available. Instructors eligible to teach Sophomore Seminars will either hold an Academic Council appointment or a teaching or research appointment in the department, program or school that offers the seminar. For inclusion in the next year, courses must be submitted by February 15. Please send general inquiries to introsems@stanford.edu.
Create or Renew a Seminar
The Introductory Seminar curriculum is assembled between December 1 and February 15, although new course submissions can be accepted throughout the year. Inquiries about teaching a new Introductory Seminar should be directed to Russell Berman and Ellen Woods.

Incorporate Intensive Writing
Faculty who would like to incorporate intensive writing and revision practice into their sophomore seminar may propose the course to satisfy the Writing Requirement.
