Department TA Orientation Overview
At the start of each academic year, VPTL hosts an annual TA Orientation open to all students across campus. This training introduces students to key university policies and gives TAs a leg up for the first day of class. Many departments, in addition, also host their own orientation or TA training classes that may supplement VPTL's orientation.
Before the academic year begins, check in with your department's Student Services Officer or whoever coordinates TA assignments to make sure that you are aware of these opportunities. These department-specific orientations give important information on the details you'll need for TAing in your discipline. They're also a great way to get to know other TAs and support resources that are close at hand.
