Android Configuration Instructions for ActiveSync

The Zimbra service was retired on December 31, 2015.

The easiest way to set up Zimbra email and calendar on your Android device is to use Mobile Device Management (MDM).  University IT strongly recommends using MDM. However, if you are unable to install MDM please follow the instructions below.

If you receive High Risk Data via email, you MUST use MDM. Otherwise, you should not set up Stanford email on you Android device.

If you have migrated to Office 365, please use the configuration instructions on the Office 365 site.


Here is the information you will need to to synchronize your Android device with the Zimbra Email and Calendar server.

  1. Select the setting to add an account.
  2. Select the account type: Corporate Sync or Exchange Active Sync
  3. Enter the account information:
    • Domain\Username: stanford.edu\your SUNet ID (i.e.; stanford.edu\jdoe)
    • Password: your SUNet ID password
    • Use secure connection: selected
    • Email address: your @Stanford email address (i.e.; jdoe@stanford.edu)
    • Server: your SUNet ID.pobox.stanford.edu (i.e.; jdoe.pobox.stanford.edu)
