Reunions at Stanford GSB are extraordinary because of the many ways alumni support them.
There are two primary reunion volunteer roles: event planning and fundraising. Many alumni choose to serve in multiple capacities. Explore the options below to learn more.
The Reunion Planning Committee is responsible for encouraging alumni attendance by building general anticipation and excitement throughout the year leading up to reunion weekend. A successful class reunion is the result of an enthusiastic and engaged planning committee focused on outreach and class-specific communications and programming. Volunteers can choose from a variety of roles when they join the GSB Reunion Planning Committee. These positions work independently and at their own pace, reporting to committee members once a month and more often as the reunion weekend date approaches.
Schedule and lead the monthly committee calls, craft the agenda, proof committee notes and distribute, keep plans and committee on schedule and focused on their roles.
Create reunion planning committee notes and forward to chair for review.
Communicate reunion news to classmates, design class site updates, and use of social media to help promote the weekend.
Manage classmate contact spreadsheet, assign outreach groups, and follow-up with volunteers making classmate calls/sending emails.
Help identify class-specific topics of interest, recruit speakers, determine session format, and communicate audio/visual needs to GSB staff.
Plan programming for the class party. Roles can includes emcee, slideshow, music selection, etc.
Plan additional weekend events as needed. Past events include golf tournaments, wine tastings, Sunday brunches, and more.
A successful reunion campaign requires a broad-based group of committed volunteers. Each year, more than 300 alumni come together to form reunion committees that work to personally contact every classmate during the calendar-year reunion campaign.
Reunion volunteers forge lasting connections between classmates, and strengthen support for the school and the reunion class gift.
Recruit classmates to join you on the participation committee, assist with communications, make early reunion commitment during quiet phase, personally encourage 5-10 classmates to support the class campaign (revisiting some classmates as needed) and encourage committee members to make their gifts, lead 4-6 committee conference calls over the course of the year, and encourage attendance at Reunion Weekend.
