    The Office of Economic Development's work2future and BusinessOwnerSpace programs will host a summit focused on supporting and acknowledging the important role that immigrant entrepreneurs feature in our local community. The main partner for this event will the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and the keynote will be provided by the SBA National Administrator Maria-Contrearas-Sweet, herself a successful entrepreneur from Mexico. The Summit will feature a series of technical assistance workshops, seminars and speed mentoring opportunities, with translation services available in Spanish and Vietnamese.

  8. San José Housing Department Holding Additional Public Informational Meetings on Affordable Housing Impact Fee & Inclusionary Housing

    The Housing Department began a public outreach process last August to include developers and other stakeholders. A series of informational meetings has already been held regarding the implementation of the Affordable Housing Impact Fee (AHIF) as well as an overview of the Inclusionary Housing Ordinance. The Housing Department now has scheduled an additional series of eight meetings through June to provide up-to-date information on the AHIF Program (with specific information on how developers might apply for the “pipeline exemption” for projects already in process), and Inclusionary Housing Ordinance.     May 7, 8:45 AM - 12:00 PM @ Municipal Rose Garden

    Please join us for the first dead-heading of the year! The roses have bloomed in abundance and now we need to snip off those blooms to encourage the next cycle. There will also be a Rose Care Seminar for those that are interested in learning more about the care and growth of roses. Tools and Training provided. Please wear closed-toe shoes (no cloth shoes) and long sleeves. Dressing in layers works well for the morning time period. Please bring your own filled water bottle. No need to pre-register. Just come and help us keep the 3,500 roses blooming! We hope to see you there! Thank You!
