The Office of Economic Development's work2future and BusinessOwnerSpace programs will host a summit focused on supporting and acknowledging the important role that immigrant entrepreneurs feature in our local community. The main partner for this event will the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and the keynote will be provided by the SBA National Administrator Maria-Contrearas-Sweet, herself a successful entrepreneur from Mexico. The Summit will feature a series of technical assistance workshops, seminars and speed mentoring opportunities, with translation services available in Spanish and Vietnamese.

The event is free and will include lunch. Participants will engage in various educational workshops and be engaged in discussion regarding how to make Santa Clara County and the City of San José Age-Friendly. The featured guest speaker will be Dr. Laura L. Carstensen from the Stanford University Center on Longevity. The event is co-sponsored by the City of San José – PRNS, Kaiser Permanente, and the County of Santa Clara. Registration is required. There will also be information booths including one from the City's Development Services Small Business Ally, where you can ask questions about starting a business and the process in obtaining building permits for new construction or renovations to buildings.
