The Office of Economic Development's work2future and BusinessOwnerSpace programs will host a summit focused on supporting and acknowledging the important role that immigrant entrepreneurs feature in our local community. The main partner for this event will the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and the keynote will be provided by the SBA National Administrator Maria-Contrearas-Sweet, herself a successful entrepreneur from Mexico. The Summit will feature a series of technical assistance workshops, seminars and speed mentoring opportunities, with translation services available in Spanish and Vietnamese.

The event is free and will include lunch. Participants will engage in various educational workshops and be engaged in discussion regarding how to make Santa Clara County and the City of San José Age-Friendly. The event is co-sponsored by the City of San José – PRNS, Kaiser Permanente, and the County of Santa Clara. Registration is required. San Jose City Hall Rotunda will host Keynote speaker Maria Contreras- Sweet, 24th SBA Administrator and a member of President Obama’s Cabinet as part of a live-streaming national broadcast. The event will include workshops on Accessing Capital, Understanding Financials for Borrowing, and Using Technology and Social Media for your Business, with simultaneous translation in Spanish and Vietnamese.
