VTA’s Next Network Presentation and Public Meetings

This is part of a series of Headways Blog posts about VTA’s Next Network Project, which will redesign VTA’s transit network.
On April 7, VTA’s Board of Directors received a presentation by Jarrett Walker on the Next Network Project. The presentation included two parts: Walker’s assessment of VTA’s current transit service and a discussion of three network concepts that show how VTA’s transit network might look if it were designed at difference balances of the ridership and coverage goals. Take a look at the Next Network presentation shown to VTA's Board of Directors below. The video from the meeting is also available.
VTA will begin a five-month long community engagement campaign in late April and there are many ways to give input:
Attend a community meeting
VTA will be hosting multiple community meetings around Santa Clara County throughout the summer. Join the project team in discussing transit network design choices and reviewing conceptual networks that show how different transit goals result in differently designed networks.
Book-A-Meeting
VTA also encourages community and advocacy groups to invite the Next Network project team to your meeting for a presentation about the Next Network Project and discussion of transit design choices.

Our next Headways Blog post will discuss the seven-day-a-week network and whether VTA’s current five-day focus is a good fit.
