Mr. Blanco, an Argentinian national, joined the Bank in 2004 as an Operation Officer in the Human Development Unit based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, working in Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay in development projects in Social Protection, Health and Education sectors. In 2008, he became a Senior Social Protection Specialist in the Social Protection unit of Latin America and the Caribbean, focusing on Social Assistance, Productive Inclusion, Non Contributory Pensions and Youth Employment, working on Latin America and Caribbean and Africa Regions.
Before joining the World Bank, Mr. Blanco worked 12 years in the Ministry of Finance and Chief of Cabinet Office of the Government of Argentina, focusing in Investment Promotion, Balance of Payments, Coordination of Projects with International Finance Organizations and Coordination of Projects of Social Sectors.
Mr. Blanco has a Master in Economics from University Torcuato Di Tella (Argentina) and got his undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of Buenos Aires (Argentina), where he got a graduation with honors. He speaks Spanish, English and Portuguese.
