Jean-Pascal N. Nganou is the World Bank Senior Economist for Mongolia, based in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Since joining the World Bank in 1998, he has worked in several Latin American and Asian countries covering private sector development issues. Prior to coming to Mongolia, he worked in African countries, including Burundi and Uganda. His work on Burundi focused on public finance management, private sector development, and poverty reduction. In Uganda, he helped the government reflect on alternative approaches to the management of future oil and mineral resources. Jean-Pascal has a special interest in macroeconomic and econometric modelling as well as economic diversification in resource-rich countries. He is an external research associate at the Info-Metrics Institute at the American University, Washington, D.C.
Jean-Pascal joined the Mongolia team in 2017 and currently leads the macroeconomic and fiscal analysis and forecasting for Mongolia at the World Bank. He coordinates the preparation of various economic analyses in the country, including Mongolia economic updates and briefs.
He received his Master’s degree in Economics from George Washington University and a Ph.D. in Economics from the American University in Washington, D.C., USA.
