FSI Student Programs

Our mission is to provide Stanford students with international opportunities to advance their personal, academic, and professional objectives.

FSI has been critical to my time at Stanford and has shaped both my academic interests and professional goals.

Explore Our Internships

FSI Global Opportunities and Enrichment for Students (GOES) offers summer-long internships related to international policy, and field research internships related to various topics to include energy markets, public health, and access to education and healthcare. All programs are fully-funded, all have an international focus, and all emphasize faculty mentorship. Stanford undergraduate and masters students from all majors are encouraged to apply.

Apply for a Grant

To support research on international studies conducted by graduate students and select undergraduate students, FSI GOES provides funding for student-initiated research and for student participation in conferences.

Work as a Research Assistant

Work as an undergradaute research assistant for one of FSI's center fellows. Positions in all areas of study are made available based on the needs of our faculty.

Graduate with Honors

Two of FSI's centers, CDDRL and CISAC, offer an honors program for seniors. Each program seeks a diverse group of undergraduate majors from any department or interdisciplinary program interested in writing their senior theses on a subject touching upon either democracy, development, and rule of law, or international security - both with a global impact.

Earn a Minor in Global Studies

The Europe Center at FSI offers a minor in Global Studies with a specialization in European Studies. The minor is designed for undergraduate students who have an interdisciplinary interest in the history, culture, politics, societies, and institutions of Europe, past and present. Students will work with their minor advisor to develop their individual programs. The minor is especially well-suited for undergraduates who plan to make Europe-based overseas studies a part of their Stanford experience.

Join a Student-Led Initiative

FSI sponsors four Stanford student-led initiatives (SLIs) that support our mission. Our sponsored SLIs are dedicated to promoting international diplomacy and engaging Stanford students in international affairs through partnerships with universities abroad. Each SLI has established partnerships with a certain country or region.
