Stanford's Freeman Spogli Institute launched its student programs in 2014 with a gift of $1.25 million. We offer funding to pursue research and internships related to international policy and international affairs for Stanford undergraduate, master’s and PhD students.

Our programs include Global Opportunities and Enrichment for Students (GOES), Student-led initatives focused on international affairs, CDDRL and CISAC Honors programs, and a Minor in Global Studies with a specialization in European Studies through the Europe Center. FSI also recently took over the Ford Dorsey Program in International Policy Studies (IPS). IPS is a two-year, graduate-level program that grants the Master of Arts degree. 

Building on FSI’s experience placing students in research opportunities, the GOES program centers around four main faculty-mentored activities that enable students to work on campus and abroad on projects with international policy relevance and development implications:

1. Global Policy Internships
2. Field Research Internships
3. Research and Conference Grants
4. Research Assistantships

FSI GOES covers all student expenses for students and provides them with an opportunity to work closely with faculty members and student research teams addressing real-world problems in a specific region.
