Tom Mullaney & Becky Fischbach: remarks at the 2017 Amy J. Blue Awards ceremony

On May 24, 2017, Stanford Libraries staff member Becky Fischbach was awarded the University's Amy J. Blue Award.  Becky and her award were profiled by the University News Service a week earlier ("Elizabeth Fischbach, a ‘storyteller par excellence,’ wins an Amy J. Blue Award").  Below are remarks offered at the awards ceremony by Stanford Professor of History Tom Mullaney, who introduced Becky, and by the laureate herself in accepting the award.  Photos of the event are courtesy of Katie Farrey.

New exhibit at the East Asia Library - In/Visible: Nuclear Representation in Japan from Hiroshima to Fukushima

The East Asia Library is pleased to announce the installation of a new exhibit in its entrance hall display cases entitled "In/Visible: Nuclear Representation in Japan from Hiroshima to Fukushima."  The exhibit was curated by Dr. Kyoko Sato, Associate Director of Stanford's Program in Science, Technology, and Society (STS), with the help of Joshua Capitanio, Public Services Librarian, and Regan Murphy Kao, Japanese Studies Librarian.

KZSU Project South exhibit features streaming audio and transcripts of 1965 civil rights campaign

The University Archives is happy to annouce the availability of a new exhibit for the KZSU Project South Collection featuring streaming audio and downloadable transcripts for this pioneering civil rights campaign. During the summer of 1965, eight students from Stanford University spent ten weeks in the southern states tape-recording information on the civil rights movement.

Immigrants, refugees and borders: April book exhibit

Stanford University Libraries has a monthly book exhibit of circulating books in Green Library in order to highlight special topics. For April 2017, librarians in the social sciences, humanities and area studies have curated a sample of selected resources on "Immigration, Refugees and Borders". The image of "Mis Madres" by Ester Hernandez is from the Stanford Libraries' Special Collections M1301 and is reproduced here courtesy of the artist.
