Overview of Headache Fellowship
Headache Medicine is one of the most challenging and clinically rewarding subspecialties in Neurology. With more than 60 million headache sufferers in the U.S. alone and fewer than 600 board-certified headache specialists, the need for fellowship-trained subspecialists is immense. Options for treatment and research opportunities are rapidly expanding and Stanford’s headache and facial pain program is actively involved in both clinical and basic research in a variety of areas within headache medicine. Our close collaborations with the pain group, behavioral medicine, physical medicine, neurosurgery, and integrative medicine provide a rich clinical environment, We have active clinical trials and a number of translational and basic research projects in which our fellows take an active role. As the largest and most diverse headache program on the west coast, we are committed to expanding the field through training the next generation of leaders in headache medicine.
