Pediatric Hospital Medicine
Welcome to the Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine at Stanford University.
Pediatric hospitalists provide general pediatric care for children while they are in the hospital. We remain in contact with primary pediatricians and work with pediatric subspecialists to treat each child's unique condition.
We provide inpatient care to patients primarily at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford. Opened in 1991, LPCH is the heart and soul of Stanford Children’s Health. Nationally ranked and internationally recognized, our 311-bed hospital is devoted entirely to pediatrics and obstetrics.
We also serve our patients at the LPCH Pediatric Unit at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, CA and the John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, CA.

Joseph Kim, MD
Division Chief
Dr. Kim is a Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics and is the Interim Division Chief of Pediatric Hospital Medicine and the Medical Director of the General Pediatric Hospitalist Program. In this role Joe has built a talented team of hospitalists who deliver outstanding clinical care, created a pediatric hospitalist fellowship, play an important role in the education of our trainees and make important contributions to scholarship related to hospitalist medicine including significant contributions to our Packard Quality Management Systems (PQMS) by helping develop and lead various projects throughout the hospital which promote value based care, for example Multidisciplinary Action Plan rounds and Night Safety Rounds.
