Grad Student Advisory Committee (GSAC)

The Graduate Student Advisory Committee (GSAC) is comprised of students of the School of Earth Sciences committed to making the school a better environment by providing a forum for student concerns, promoting integration of the disciplines within the school, and developing programs that will benefit the greater Earth Sciences community.  Visit HERE to find out more.  GSAC organizes events for students and faculty to keep the ESS and SE3 communities alive and well(-fed)!

ESS events:

  • ESS Annual Holiday Party: for students, post-docs, faculty, staff and their families!
  • ESS Quarterly Town Hall Meetings: open to all students to voice concerns, needs and opinions about ESS or SE3.
  • ESS Admissions Week Dinner: perspective students meet current students to talk about academic and social lives in our department.

SE3 events:

  • The New Student Overnight: a weekend camping trip to welcome the incoming first-years into SE3!
  • GeoSnow: a subsidized winter weekend getaway to Tahoe for SE3 students!
  • Research Review: a one-day event where SE3 students showcase their research with posters and presentations.
  • Spring Picnic: an afternoon spent outside with food, drinks and (sometimes) a soccer tournament!
