Renewable Fuels

Stanford engineers and scientists are exploring new ways to make renewable fuels for transportation. Several labs are developing novel technologies that produce emissions-free hydrogen gas, including solar water-splitters (artificial photosynthesis) and biomass enzymes. Others are taking theoretical and experimental approaches to electrochemical catalysis with the goal of converting greenhouse gases into renewable fuels and chemicals.
