Schneider Memorial Lecture in honor of the Stanford professor and world-renowned climate scientist who died in 2010. She will discuss her journey from the public sector to Silicon Valley and what happens when one of the world’s most innovative companies takes on some of the world's most troubling environmental issues. On Tuesday, April 22 from 11am-2pm, faculty, staff, and students will come together to celebrate sustainability at Stanford. An interactive festival designed to educate members of the campus community about Stanford's sustainability achievements through fun, engaging activities and displays, this year's "Celebrating Sustainability" event will highlight water conservation initiatives both at Stanford and beyond.  

More than 35 campus departments, groups, and entities will host the event at the Science and Engineering Quad on Earth Day. Guests are welcome to enjoy food, live music, games, giveaways, and plenty of fun!

Hosted by Acterra. Stanford Woods Senior Fellow Mark Jacobson will give a talk titled Transitioning All 50 States to Wind, Water and Solar Power.
Professor Jacobson will discuss the development of technical and economic plans to convert the energy infrastructure of each of the 50 United States to being powered by 100% renewable resources. The plans call for 80% conversion by 2030 and 100% by 2050 through aggressive policy measures and natural transition. Mark Jacobson will explain what’s required for this expansion of wind and solar resources, the jobs created, costs, and related reductions in air pollution mortality.
