TRI Data and Tools
The TRI Program tracks the management of toxic chemicals that may pose a threat to human health and the environment. Facilities in certain industry sectors report annually the volume of toxic chemicals managed as waste--recycled, treated or burned for energy recovery--as well as disposed of or otherwise released into the environment. Select an option below to view TRI data.
TRI National Analysis website: Maps, charts, and tables highlight annual, national-level data, while factsheets detail specific geographic areas.
TRI Pollution Prevention (P2) Tool: Explore and compare facility and parent company information on the management of toxic chemical waste.
myRTK: Find summary-level facility information, including chemical releases, pollution prevention activities, and compliance history. Provided in English and Spanish.
TRI Explorer: Access the most commonly requested TRI information. Search by chemical or facility releases, waste management, or waste transfers.
Envirofacts: Find all publicly available TRI data in a searchable, downloadable format. Multiple search options available.
TRI.NET: Build customized TRI data queries and map results or overlay other data layers with this desktop application.
More Information to Help You Use TRI Data
Download data from TRI reporting forms for any reporting year since 1987. Recommended for users with extensive knowledge of TRI data.
- Basic Data Files: Frequently requested data elements.
- Basic Plus Data Files: All data elements reported on Reporting Form R.
- Dioxin, Dioxin-Like Compounds and TEQ Data Files: Individually-reported mass quantity data reported on Reporting Form R Schedule 1 since 2008, with associated Toxic Equivalency data elements.
Use TRI data in conjunction with other EPA data sources for comparative analysis.
- DMR (Discharge Monitoring Report) Pollutant Loading Tool: Compare DMR and TRI release data. Determine what pollutants are being discharged into waterways, and by which companies.
- Enforcement and Compliance History Online (ECHO): Search EPA and state compliance and enforcement records for air, water, and hazardous waste regulations, including contextual data for TRI and other programs.
- Enviromapper: Generate maps that contain environmental information, including TRI information. Add features such as schools, streets, and water bodies to view the information in context.
- TRI-CHIP (TRI Chemical Hazard Information Profiles): Access and analyze toxicity information from multiple data sources for chemicals included on the TRI list.
- RSEI (Risk-Screening Environmental Indicators): Analyze trends or rankings of toxic chemicals released to the environment by regions, states, counties, industries, facilities, chemicals or release pathways.
- Explore a TRI Facility: Learn about TRI terms and concepts in the context of a fictional TRI facility.
- Descriptions of TRI Data Terms: An interactive webpage defines common TRI terms and indicates where to find them on the TRI reporting form.
- The Guides and Tutorials webpage can help you learn to use some of the TRI tools.
- Factors to Consider When Using TRI (PDF), available in English and Spanish, can help you understand and use TRI data.
