Special Increase

With deep appreciation and gratitude for our workforce, the university is providing eligible employees a 3% special increase to their actual base salary for their extraordinary contributions in supporting the university’s mission while navigating a prolonged period of uncertainty. This is one of several programs and services recently announced by university leadership as part of the Affordability Task Force (ATF) efforts, aimed at addressing the ongoing regional affordability challenges our community faces. This special increase is separate from the annual salary program in the fall.

Effective Date

March 1, 2022

Eligibility

All regular benefits-eligible employees hired on or before Dec. 1, 2021, and are employed on the effective date of March 1, 2022, are eligible. SEIU-represented staff are eligible regardless of hire date. An employee’s performance review/rating does not affect their eligibility. Employees in their trial period are also eligible.

Regular benefits-eligible employees, both active and on a paid leave of absence, include:

  • Faculty
  • Non-bargaining unit staff, grades A through P, N11
  • SEIU-represented staff
  • Other teaching staff
  • Academic staff - Teaching
  • Academic staff - Research
  • Academic staff - Librarians 
  • Clinician educators
  • Global staff

The following are not eligible:

  • All positions that are not benefits-eligible
  • Covered positions (as defined by the Board of Trustees’ Compensation Committee, including direct reports to the President/Provost and other senior level roles whose total compensation exceeds specified limits)
  • Employees with individual contracts
  • Stanford Deputy Sheriffs' Association (SDSA)-represented employees1
  • Non-bargaining unit employees rehired after Dec. 1, 2021, even if their service was bridged
  • Employees on terminal vacation or within layoff notice period, or faculty on terminal reappointments
  • Postdocs
