Register a Bike Online
In 2020, Stanford’s Department of Public Safety will launch a new online bike registration program. You will be able to register your bike online whenever it is most convenient for you. It is free and allows you to upload a photo of your bike to verify ownership.
Where can I register my bike?
As of 2020, bike registration will be only available online and managed by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) through the Project 529 Garage bicycle registration program. Bike registration will now be free. Please note that bike registration is no longer managed by Stanford Transportation.
With bike registration being online, in person bike registration events are no longer needed and Stanford Transportation will no longer be hosting them.
Please note that both Santa Clara County and San Mateo County have rescinded the bike registration requirement. This means that there is no law requiring that bicyclists register their bikes. However, DPS strongly recommends riders register their bikes. That way, if your bike is stolen, you will be able to use the Project 529 system to broadcast alerts and share a photo of your stolen bike.
For more information about registering your bike, contact DPS at police@stanford.edu or 650.723.9633.
What if my bike is already registered?
Bikes that have been registered in the past by Stanford Transportation will still be listed in the database in case there is a need to access your last registration.
