PG&E is reporting a widespread outage affecting thousands of customers in Berkeley and many City buildings, including the Finance Customer Service Center and the Permit Service Center. Call respective City services for further details, or check the PG&E outage page. Power is expected to return by 12:45pm. Traffic lights that are not working should be treated as a four-way stop sign.

The Help Desk is the front line of technical support available to City employees. Telephone and e-mail queries are answered to facilitate employees utilization of network resources. Technical staff also researches problems for users, and makes on-site calls when necessary. There is an emergency Help Desk phone number for nights and weekends.

The Help Desk coordinates training in all standardized programs. When sweeping changes are made to City Information Technology, such as conversion to a new e-mail system, training is arranged en masse. The City encourages all employees to attend regular computer training sessions in order to use information technologies effectively.
