About

The Art & Architecture Library collects titles in the fields of art, architecture, and design. Holdings range in coverage from Paleolithic to the present and are particularly strong in the areas of medieval, Renaissance, modern, contemporary, and Chinese art history. The Locked Stacks collection includes unique materials such as twentieth century ephemera, architectural treatises, and artists’ books. The library supports art-related research, teaching, exploration, and discovery; it is open to all Stanford students, faculty, staff, and registered visitors.

Accessibility

The circulation desk and reading room on the library’s main floor are accessible via two building entrances, one with a ramp and one with an elevator. The three stacks levels within the library do not have elevator access; paging services are available.

Location

Cummings Art Building, in which the Art & Architecture Library is located, sits adjacent to Hoover Tower and Green Library near the northeast corner of the quad. The library entrance is on the building’s main floor.

Transit and parking

Marguerite lines X, Y, and P run close to the Art & Architecture Library, with stops at Serra and Galvez Streets (X, Y) and the campus Oval (P). Pay & Display visitor permit parking may be found at the Visitor Center/Track House lot and Memorial Way. The campus Oval includes a small number of coin-metered spaces.
