Connect from off campus

Browser-specific configuration is required to access SUL's restricted databases, electronic journals, or e-books from off-campus locations. These pages offer instructions for various operating systems and web browsers.

Our license agreements for electronic resources require that we only provide off-campus access to to current Stanford faculty, staff, students, and other affiliated users. To test whether you are connected to a Stanford network, click on the "connection test" link on the right side of this page.  The remote host should end in "stanford.edu."

For help setting up your browser off campus, refer to the instruction links on the left side of this page. Note that these instructions provide access to our proxy server, which is the only way to access restricted library resources. Stanford's VPN (Virtual Private Network) service does not provide off-campus access to SUL resources.

For specific questions about access to electronic resources, contact Privileges. For other problems connecting from off campus, please report a connection problem
