Putting Information into the Hands of Those Who Can Use It

News & Announcements What I feel now, and what I hope the CASBS community will come to share with me, is a sense of excitement as we reinvent the Center to meet the challenges facing social science today. I offer here a brief strategy to situate the Center as a key locus for the development of contemporary and cutting-edge social science.  Read more. Read about Margaret Levi News about the Center and Fellows in the news.   Events We hold a variety of events to promote collaborations among Fellows, and facilitate cross-fertilization between academia and business, government, NGO, and foundation worlds. Annual CASBS Behavioral Science Summit The Second Annual Behavioral Science Summit on July 11, 2013 will highlight the latest developments in behavioral science that are relevant to creativity and innovation, with an opening keynote address by Daniel Kahneman, Nobel Prize winner and author of Thinking, Fast and Slow. Most of the day will consist of interactive, parallel sessions led by 15 thought leaders in fields such as behavioral economics, organizational behavior, creativity, interaction and experience research. Our first annual CASBS Behavioral Science Summit (June 29, 2012) on the theme of “Social meets Science” was clearly a success. The keynote addresses by two thought-provoking authors – Malcolm Gladwell (author of Blink, Tipping Point and Outliers) and Steven Pinker (author of Blank Slate and The Better Angels of Our Nature) complemented the interactive, parallel sessions led by 18 experts in fields such as behavioral economics, applied neuroscience, bioinformatics, and big data analytics. -->Events We hold a variety of events to promote collaborations among Fellows, and facilitate cross-fertilization between academia and business, government, NGO, and foundation worlds. For many years, scientists have made profound discoveries about behavior and the mental and emotional events that give rise to it, in individuals and in groups. We seek to identify important discoveries, bring them out of the laboratory and classroom, and interpret their import so that they can be used by non-specialists.   The CASBS Symposium Series features a distinguished scholar, drawn from the ranks of the Center's current fellows. The speaker will give a short presentation followed by an exchange of ideas with the audience participants. The series is open to the public.   We encourage advance registration as space is limited for these exciting events. If you'd like to be on our distribution list send an email with your full name to friends@casbs.org. Please check our General Calendar for other events.
