This nine member board, established in 1916, consisted of students, faculty and alumni It had general control and supervision of competitive and non-competitive athletics and physical training at Stanford until 1945.The records include minutebooks for 1916 through 1943, and bylaws, contracts, correspondence, memoranda, reports, and other miscellaneous records from 1919 through 1954.
From 1905-1917, the Graduate Manager of Athletics handled scheduling and financial management of athletic team events. This collection consists primarily of correspondence and financial records.
Minutes of the Stanford Athletic Council which functioned between 1946 and 1950. Typical matters addressed include sale of Big Game tickets, contracts with other colleges, training regulations, upkeep of facilities, televising games, the golf course, and finances.
Includes staff meeting minutes, newsletters, correspondence, materials relating to medical research projects of the faculty, and records of the operation of the Women's Student Health Service. Also includes course materials, correspondence, reports, memoranda, photographs, and miscellaneous materials pertaining to the department.
Programs, statistics, press releases, scrapbooks, brochures, photographs, slides, and pamphlets pertaining to football, basketball, wrestling, golf, and other sports at Stanford University.
Materials collected by Lloyd McGovern, Stanford class of 1947. Includes programs, media guides, team previews, newsletters, press releases, clippings, magazine articles, game statistics, tickets, photographs, and correspondence. The emphasis is on spring sports such as basketball, track, tennis, baseball, swimming, and golf; there is very little on football.
Papers reflecting Shuer's interest in women's sports and include correspondence, clippings, articles, reports, notes, and assorted records from several Stanford University athletic committees and from its Department of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation. Also includes materials from a questionnaire distributed to female athletes at Stanford in 1971.
These materials were largely collected by Marjorie Shuer and include video tapes, audio tapes, and research notes from an oral history project; and miscellaneous correspondence, questionnaires, clippings, and memorabilia. Subjects include the strengthening and developing of women's athletics during and after the merger of the athletic and physical education departments (1972); and student and athletic experiences of the 1930s, including the Women's Athletic Association.
Image collections

The photographs, taken by professional photographers Richard Keeble and Glenn Kenyon, include action shots, formal group and team member photographs. While the concentration is on Stanford University's major sports--football, baseball, swimming and track--minor sports of both men's and women's athletics are also documented.
Proof albums assembled by Crandall to be browsed by patrons of his Palo Alto studio. Crandall concentrated primarily on Stanford athletics and student activities. Sports most heavily documented are football, track, and baseball; others include crew, swimming, basketball, gymnastics, and polo.
