The Stanford Neuro-Oncology Program Fellowship

Fellowship Overview

Neuro-Oncology is a growing subspecialty that is in constant evolution as novel diagnostic strategies, therapeutics, and prognostic factors are being discovered. Basic science and clinical trials play a pivotal role in this subspecialty to improve outcomes for neuro-oncological disorders. There continues to be a great need for physicians who have an interest in research as well as clinical practice. Our fellowship program offers one- to two-year training periods for candidates who have completed an adult or pediatric neurology residency and have attained the qualifications necessary to sit for the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology examination. We will also consider applicants who have completed training in medical oncology, pediatric oncology, neurosurgery, or radiation oncology on a case by case basis. The first year of our fellowship focuses primarily on the clinical training. Fellows are also encouraged to pursue their research interests concurrent with their clinical training or to complete a second year of training to focus specifically on research. Our goal is to train future leaders in the field of academic neuro-oncology.

We are a UCNS (United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties) accredited program in Neuro-Oncology and it is our expectation that graduates of the program will take the certification examination at the completion of the program.

Applications

We are no longer accepting applications for the 2015-2016 fellowship year. Our deadline for the incoming class of fellows in July 2016 is ongoing, however we will encourage applicants to complete their applications as soon as possible. We request a cover letter outlining your career goals and interests, three letters of recommendation, a copy of your CV, and a completed application form.
