Welcome Sigurdis Haraldsdottir

We welcome Dr. Sigurdis Haraldsdottir to the Division of Oncology. She is an Assistant Professor (MCL) with a focus in Gastrointestinal Cancer. Dr. Haraldsdottir received her medical degree from the University of Iceland, and pursued her training in Medical Oncology at Ohio State University. While undergoing her fellowship training, she simultaneously worked towards a PhD in her native Iceland. Her research to date has focused on the genetics of colorectal cancer, in particular Lynch Syndrome and Mismatch Repair defects. She has performed truly fascinating work in this area through her interactions with Iceland’s DeCode project, work that has already led to her discovery of novel founder mutations. She joins our growing GI cancer group in the clinic, where she will focus much of her effort on colorectal cancer.
