Fellowship Program

The Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Training Program at Stanford University is dedicated to producing future leaders in the field of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. Based at Stanford Children's Health | Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford on the campus of Stanford University, the program provides high quality clinical and research training in pediatric hematology/oncology and stem cell transplantation.

Fellows spend the first year in intensive clinical training at the hospital’s Bass Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders, with broad exposure to clinical research and therapeutic trials. The remaining two or more years are mostly devoted to basic science and/or translational research training. Depending on their interests, fellows are strongly encouraged to take advantage of Stanford University’s prestigious network of research laboratories and many opportunities for involvement in clinical research.

The ultimate goal of the program is to graduate fellows with the skills and knowledge necessary to embark on independent and successful careers in academic medicine. We recognize that training for a productive career often requires research that will extend beyond the three years of basic fellowship support. We therefore work closely with our fellows to help secure additional funding to extend the laboratory component of their research beyond the three years of fellowship, if so desired.
