Stanford Medical Student Association (SMSA)

SMSA Funding For Individual Student Initiatives

All proposals are accepted on a rolling basis and are subject to approval by the SMSA Treasurer. Since funds normally run out over an academic year, you are more likely to obtain funding if you apply for it well in advance of your conference travel, event, or project work.

1) Individual Research Conference Travel

SMSA will reimburse an individual's conference travel costs up to $150. Only one ICT application will be funded per research project. A student who wishes to attend multiple conferences within a given fiscal year (9/1-8/31) can receive a maximum of $300 in SMSA travel funding ($150 from ICT funding and another $150 from Group Conference Travel (GCT) support). Prior to submitting an SMSA ICT application, you must request support from both your research advisor and your scholarly concentration. The scholarly concentration director can provide up to $500 in research travel subsidy per academic year.

2) Student Projects and Initiatives Funding (SPIF):

If you have individual project funding needs, please complete a SPIF application.
