Hillary Gitelman is the Planning and Community Environment Director for the City of Palo Alto. The Planning and Community Environment Department consists of the Planning, Transportation, and Code Enforcement divisions. [more]
The department is responsible for:
• maintaining and overseeing compliance with the City’s Comprehensive Plan • preparing and implementing Coordinated Area Plans and Design Guidelines • gathering and analyzing data in support of land-use policy • reviewing projects for potential environmental impacts on the City and its residents • complying with and enforcing the Zoning Ordinance • reviewing commercial and home project applications • administration of the City's Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) programs • management and implementation of the City’s Housing Programs • and oversight and implementation of the City’s Historic Preservation Ordinance
