This course introduces students to the dynamic processes of Earth that impact our everyday lives. Topics to be addressed include: the formation of Earth; plate tectonics; basic weather and climate patterns; basic ecology; regional environmental impacts; global climate change; current and future sources of energy; and others. Throughout the course, students will explore their own relationship with the environment and the ecosystem services that support human life. At-home lab work will reinforce mastery of these topics and build research and communication skills. Upon successful completion of the course, students will have gained the skills needed to be successful in Honors-level science courses.
