Timing of Course Selection

A quarter is only ten weeks long, so be judicious in planning which courses to investigate and make your decisions quickly. You must enroll for at least 12 units by the first day of classes, and ideally your schedule will be settled by Friday of the first week. The Registrar’s deadline for filing Final Study Lists is on Friday of the third week of classes, but be very careful about adding a class after the first week without first checking with the professor, as catching up may be too difficult. Rather, it is best to attend more classes than you expect to take in the first week, and then determine which classes make the best combination for you that quarter.

Both before the quarter begins and during the first weeks of the quarter, consult pre-major advisors, major advisors, or UAR advisors about your potential courses and how these choices fit your overall academic plans.
