Ten years ago, few researchers and experts crossed disciplines to collaborate in pursuit of environmental solutions. Today, thanks in part to the pioneering work of the Stanford Woods Institute, the landscape has changed dramatically. To mark that progress and lay the groundwork for future collaborative breakthroughs, Woods hosted a tenth anniversary symposium on Nov. 11, 2014. The event, moderated by School of Earth Sciences Dean Pamela Matson and San Jose Mercury News reporter Paul Rogers, brought together Stanford researchers, students and their colleagues in the water, conservation, sustainable development and public health fields.

The Business of Sustainability Summit 2014 engaged a diverse cohort of 54 CEOs, chief sustainability officers, and business unit heads from 47 companies including AT&T, Annie's Inc., Airbnb, Chevron, Disney, Gap, General Motors, Kaiser Permanente, LinkedIn, McKinsey, Method, Starbucks, Wells Fargo, Yahoo and a small group of Woods faculty from all seven Stanford schools.. Chris Field: Connecting the Dots

Senior Fellow Chris Field discusses major United Nations climate change report at Connecting the Dots, an event, co-sponsored by the Stanford Woods Institute, that brought together experts from a range of disciplines to discuss the interconnections and interactions among humanity’s need for and use of climate, energy, food, water and environmental resources. Field is co-chair of an Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change working group that published in April 2014 a report on climate change impacts, adaptation and vulnerability. Read more.
