CME Strategic Advisory Committee

The Stanford CME Strategic Advisory Committee (SAC) is comprised of hospital and School of Medicine physician faculty and staff members who are supportive of Stanford CME.  The Committee is chaired by the Associate Dean for Postgraduate Medical Education and its members include the Associate Dean for Educational Programs and Services, the Director of CME, one senior leader from both Stanford Health Care and Stanford Children’s Health, and two or more faculty members from both Stanford Hospital and Lucile Packard Children's Hospital. 

Role and Responsibilities

The members set the direction and vision for the Stanford Center for Continuing Medical Education (SCCME) and provide oversight to ensure it meets its mission (goals) and remains compliant with ACCME Accreditation Criteria. They provide advice on the financial model for CME and on the prioritization of SCCME activities. In this capacity, the SAC is responsible for the review of courses that wish to seek commercial support from the Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Medical Device, and Hospital and Research Equipment and Supplies Industries to determine if such courses meet Stanford Medicine’s mission and priorities. In addition, the SAC is responsible for the evaluation of the overall CME Program, and in doing so identifies both strengths and opportunities for improvement within the SCCME. The Stanford CME SAC members serve as ambassadors for the SCCME throughout Stanford Medicine and beyond. The SAC meets approximately two to four times a year, and can make decisions via electronic communications.
