Practical Pediatrics—North Bay 2016

Statement of Need

Continuous advances in clinical science require pediatric and family primary care practitioners to obtain comprehensive, up-to-date information on a wide variety of clinical issues that may be encountered in daily practice in the care of newborns, children and adolescents. Practical Pediatrics – North Bay 2016 is based on identified clinical challenges of physician learners combined with recommendations from Stanford Children’s Health expert faculty. The course will focus on clinical management strategies of conditions in pediatric gastroenterology, urology, cardiology, neurology, ophthalmology, pulmonology and psychiatry. Preparing for a pediatric office emergency will also be covered.

Target Audience

This activity is intended for pediatricians, family physicians, primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses and interested allied health professionals who provide care for children and adolescents.

Learning Objectives

Utilize clinical guidelines in the treatment of bronchiolitis and pertussis
Based on current best practices, assess the adolescent with depression and treat or refer appropriately
Apply the latest advances and best practices in the evaluation, treatment and referral of a child with abdominal pain, cardiac murmur, headache or eye conditions
Differentiate between worrisome and benign urologic conditions in the child
Develop a plan for responding to a clinical emergency in the office.

Fees include tuition, continental breakfast and lunch.

Registration applications must be completed online, faxed or postmarked by January 10, 2016. Registration may re-open onsite on the day of the conference if space is available. A $50 onsite registration fee will be added to all onsite conference registrations.

Cancellation Policy

Registration fees, less a $50 dollar administrative charge, are refundable if written cancellation is received prior to January 8, 2016. No refunds will be given for cancellations received after this date or for conference non-attendance.

We reserve the right to cancel or postpone any program if necessary. In such case, full refund of registration fees will be given. We are not responsible for other costs incurred such as non-refundable airline tickets or hotel penalties.

All reservation requests must be made by December 22, 2015 in order to qualify for the special group rate. Room rates are subject to State Hotel Room Tax of 11%. Reservations and deposits received after December 22, 2015, or exceeding the contracted room block, will be confirmed on a space and rate available basis only. Individuals will be required to guarantee their reservations for late arrival in cash or by use of a major credit card.

Cancellation of individual reservations made up to 5 days prior to arrival will be accepted, and the deposit refunded for those rooms for the full night’s stay. Any no-shows, early departures, or other reductions to length of stay from 5 days prior to arrival will also forfeit full room and tax.
