SCA Staff Selection

  • Faculty select among applicants for SCA positions. If selected to more than one course or position, you may choose which to accept.
  • Review Important Dates to learn when you will be notified of acceptance and the deadline by which you must accept or decline the role. 

Application Opens: February 9, 2016 NOON

Application Closes:  February 25, 2016 NOON

STEPS TO APPLY

  1. Review the Job Description to learn about the exciting opportunity.
  2. Determine if you are eligible.
  3. Read the Commitment Form [PDF] to learn what will be required.
  4. Decide which course(s) to apply to.  You may apply up to two but may only serve as SCA for one.  Not accepting applications, recruiting outside of on-line system: Environmental & Resource Challenges on Native American Lands, The Face of Battle, and Environmental and Geological Field Studies in the Rocky Mountains. Accepting applications for waitlist only: Economic Policies of the Presidential Candidates.
  5. All seminars require you respond to the three questions below.  Some courses may include additional questions.
  6. Send your unofficial transcript to faculty of courses you applied to no later than the application deadline.
  7. Review important program dates and email sophcollege@stanford.edu if you have any questions.

NOTE: SOME courses are not accepting applications.

  • Courses accepting applications will display on the application system (vcascs.stanford.edu).

Application Questions

  • Academic Experience: Describe any experience you have had which would prepare you to serve as a Teaching/Course Assistant for this Sophomore College Class. Include your background in the course topic and any teaching experience.
  • Other Experience: Describe any experiences which would prepare you to serve as a residence staff member and academic adviser during Sophomore College.
  • Statement of Purpose: Why do you want to serve in this Sophomore College Staff position?
  • There may be additional Seminar-Specific Questions
