Maintenance
Roadside landscape and median island landscapes are managed by City crews for irrigation, litter, and weed control. The City of San José Landscape Maintenance Program is responsible for maintaining 233 acres of roadside landscaped areas throughout San José.

These maintenance responsibilities include weed control, shrub trimming and removal, litter and debris pick up, and there is an irrigation expert on staff to respond to any City parcel irrigation leak or damage.

The Alternate Work Program (AWP) is a part of this division. City staff utilizes county participants to assist with debris and litter pick up along roadsides. AWP participants also assist with special event preparation like Music in the Park and the Amgen Tour California.

Complaints
The Landscape Maintenance Division responds to complaints called in by San José residents that range from illegally dumped debris to accident damage debris and other concerns in the public right-of-way.
