Report and Prevent Illegal Dumping
Illegal Dumping in the streetIllegal dumping is a serious issue that can affect your safety, your community, and the environment
When people illegally dump in neighborhood streets, parks, and creeks it results in visual blight and pollutes the environment.

Report illegal dumping
Report illegal dumping in San José by calling the Customer Contact Center at (408) 535-3500. If you witness dumping in progress, call the San José Police Department non-emergency line at (408) 277-8900.

Dumping trash and debris attracts more dumping. Reporting dumping immediately ensures that more people do not add to the polluted area.

Residents in single-family homes can have large items (such as mattresses, sofas, refrigerators, tires, and more) collected curbside by their recycling collection company. The first collection of up to three large items is free. Additional large item collections are available for $27 (up to three items).
