Karen Mathiasen is the Acting Executive Director for the United States. Prior to this position, she previously served as a Senior Advisor in the same Office.
Karen Mathiasen has also held several positions at the US Treasury Department, including Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary, Debt and Development Policy (2012-2015), Director, Office of Multilateral Development Banks (2008-2012), Director, Office of the Middle East and North Africa (2005-2008), Senior Economist, Iraq Financial Task Force (2002-2003), Director, Office of Central and Southeastern Europe (2000-2002) and Director, Office of Middle East, Central and South Asia (1997-1997).
She holds a Masters in Law and Diplomacy from Tufts University, Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, and a BA in Economics and Political Science from Smith College.
